A customer in Hampton got in touch because the door had become extremely difficult to operate and eventually reached the point where it could no longer be locked.
The original multipoint mechanism had been discontinued.
I removed it from the door to see whether there was any realistic chance of repairing it, but even before dismantling the centre case there were loose and broken internal parts visible inside.
The old mechanism was beyond a dependable repair.
I fitted an overnight lock so the customer could secure the door and ordered a three-part replacement system for the following day.
When I returned, the new mechanism needed to be cut to the correct size for the door, but otherwise the installation required very little adjustment.
Once fitted and tested, the door was locking and operating normally again.
