A customer in Richmond got in touch because a bedroom window was draughty and no longer shutting properly.
As soon as I opened and closed the sash, the cause was clear. The hinges had developed enough wear that the window was no longer pulling tightly into the frame.
I recommended replacing the hinge set and the customer also asked for a restrictor to be added at the same time.
I had both the replacement hinges and suitable restrictor in van stock, so the repair could be completed during the visit.
After fitting and adjusting the new hardware, the bedroom window was closing tightly again and the restrictor provided the additional opening control the customer wanted.
