A customer in Ashford called after locking himself out. He still had the key, but the snib on the nightlatch had moved into a position that stopped the key from opening the door.
Once on site, I confirmed that the key was not going to operate the lock normally. I brought out the inspection camera so I could see what the snib was doing and try to move it back into the correct position.
After a good few minutes of trying to lift it, I realised I had the direction backwards โ the snib needed to go down, not up. ๐
Once that was corrected, the customer’s key opened the door and access was restored without replacing the lock.
The customer did not want the nightlatch investigated any further, so I left the existing lock in place as requested.
