A former customer in Hounslow asked me to attend her father’s property after the front door had been forced and could no longer be locked.
When I arrived that afternoon, there were clear forced-entry marks around the multipoint locking system, but fortunately the door and frame themselves were still intact.
The original setup used a three-part multipoint mechanism and I did not have an exact like-for-like replacement with me. What I did have, unexpectedly, was a full-length equivalent mechanism that had been sitting in the van for a long time waiting for exactly this sort of job.
I adapted the replacement to suit the door, fitted a new centre keep and worked through the adjustments needed to get the locking points operating cleanly with the frame.
Once everything was aligned and tested, the front door was secure and locking normally again without needing to replace the door itself.
