A customer in Loudwater had problems with the multipoint mechanism on a bi-fold door after an emergency locksmith had already opened the door.
The customer then contacted the door manufacturer, who supplied the failed parts under warranty, and asked me to install them.
This particular bi-fold system used top and bottom shootbolts as part of the multipoint arrangement, so the replacement was more involved than a standard centre-case swap.
I installed the new multipoint mechanism, replaced the handles supplied by the manufacturer and worked through the adjustments needed to get the shootbolts and locking points operating correctly.
The cylinder fitted during the emergency visit was not something I would have chosen for the door, so I recommended replacing it with a more suitable option. The customer decided not to change it on this occasion.
Once the supplied parts were fitted and adjusted, the bi-fold door was operating normally again.
