A homeowner in Sunbury got in touch after avoiding her front door for more than five years because it had become extremely stiff and difficult to use. She wanted the door working properly again and the locks replaced.
When I arrived, the timber door was extremely tight in the frame and took considerable effort to open without causing damage. Seasonal movement and long periods without use had left the door swollen and the fit badly affected.
I planed the door to remove the excess material and restore a smooth fit, then replaced the nightlatch and deadbolt so the door could be secured reliably.
Once everything was adjusted and tested, the front door opened and closed normally again and both replacement locks operated correctly.
