A landlord in Chesham asked me to inspect a window that had become increasingly difficult to operate and was noticeably draughty.
The hinges had developed a lot of play and the sash was becoming extremely difficult to close.
I replaced the worn hinges with a new pair from van stock and lubricated the window mechanism. Once adjusted and tested, the window was closing properly again and the draught problem was resolved.
On my way out, a wooden door also caught my attention because it was rubbing and refusing to close cleanly.
The self-rising hinges were badly worn, so I raised the door slightly to stop it catching at the bottom. The sash-lock keep then needed readjusting as well, along with some more appropriate screws than the ones that had been used previously.
The main window repair was completed from stock, and the annoying wooden door got a small bonus adjustment before I left.
