A returning customer in Ashford wanted deadlocks installed on three internal wooden doors.
He wanted to keep the existing handles because they matched the rest of the house, and changing all of the furniture would have added unnecessary cost. That meant the new locks needed their own positions lower down the doors rather than replacing the existing handles.
The doors were quite narrow, so there was very little margin for error when cutting the lock pockets and faceplates. A mistake with the cutting tool could easily have meant replacing a door, so I took my time with the measuring and fitting.
Once the positions were marked, I cut the openings, fitted the deadlocks and checked the key and bolt operation on each door.
A couple of hours later, all three internal doors had their new locks fitted neatly while the original matching handles remained untouched.
