I was called to a property in Walton-on-Thames because a uPVC door was not locking and the cylinder was spinning freely.
Luckily, the door was already open, so everything was more or less easily accessible. Once I pulled the locking mechanism out, the broken part inside was easy to see.
A small pin that moves the mechanism when you want to lock or open the door had snapped off, which meant the gearbox could no longer operate properly.
I had the correct genuine uPVC gearbox on the van, so the failed one was replaced on the spot rather than leaving the customer waiting for parts.
With the new gearbox fitted, the multipoint locking system was checked and the door was locking and unlocking properly again.
