A returning customer in Walton got in touch about the garden gate because the existing arrangement did not feel secure enough, particularly with the property close to a busy road.
After looking at the gate and talking through the options, the customer chose the configuration with a key on the outside. I normally carry this style of gate lock, but the one in the van was the key-operated version on both sides rather than the configuration required for this job, so the correct lock had to be ordered.
I returned the next day to fit it. Before installing the lock, the gate itself needed some attention because it was not even meeting the door stop correctly. I repositioned the bottom hinge and adjusted the gate until it was sitting as it should.
With the gate aligned, I installed the new lock and tested the operation. The customer then had the locking arrangement they had originally wanted rather than having to compromise with the version I happened to have in stock.
