A former customer in Twickenham got in touch about a fire door that they wanted to be able to lock. Several nearby doors already had matching locking hardware, but for whatever reason this particular door had not been done at the same time.
I visited first to take the measurements and look properly at the existing doors. Because there were three other doors close by with the same style of furniture, I asked whether the customer was happy to wait a couple of extra days while I tried to source matching hardware rather than fitting something that looked completely different. He agreed, so off I went on the hunt for the correct parts.
Finding everything was not as easy as I expected. It took a bit of searching and I learned a few things along the way, but I eventually managed to source the matching hardware needed for the job.
I returned once everything was together and fitted the lock and furniture to the previously non-locking fire door. The end result matched the neighbouring doors rather than looking like an obvious later addition, which was exactly what the customer had wanted.
