A customer in Staines got in touch because the high-security front-door lock had failed. From inside, the lock would simply keep turning and the door could no longer be secured properly.
Failures on this type of high-security cylinder are relatively unusual, but no lock is completely immune from an internal fault.
I confirmed that the cylinder itself had failed and explained the replacement options available.
On this occasion, the customer chose a different brand of high-security lock from the stock I had with me.
I removed the failed cylinder, fitted the replacement and tested the locking operation from both sides.
The door could then be secured normally again with the new high-security cylinder in place.
