A customer in Feltham asked me to troubleshoot a uPVC sliding door that would no longer lock.
Once the mechanism was removed from the door, it was obvious that somebody had worked on the gearbox before.
The sides of the gearbox casing had been bent, which allowed the internal components to move out of position and eventually malfunction.
The existing gearbox was too badly damaged to save, so I ordered the correct replacement.
Once the new gearbox arrived, I fitted it and then adjusted both the door rollers and the frame keep so the sliding door would operate without unnecessary resistance.
After the final adjustments, the door was locking and running properly again.
