A customer in Feltham got in touch about a garden door that had become awkward to use. They could only lock it from the inside and, to open it, had to go around the outside of the property to reach the other side of the door.
Once on site, I tested the locking system and confirmed that the multipoint mechanism was no longer operating correctly. Components inside the centre case, or gearbox, had failed and the handles were also close to the end of their life.
I explained the repair and quoted for replacing the failed parts. The customer agreed, and I had both the gearbox and suitable new handles available in van stock.
I fitted the replacement gearbox and handles, then carried out a small realignment of the door so the multipoint locking points operated cleanly rather than fighting against the frame. Everything was completed on the first visit, and the garden door could once again be locked and opened normally from either side.
