An estate agent asked me to replace a faulty aluminium-window handle for a tenant in Isleworth.
It was a straightforward repair, and I gave the tenant a choice of replacement-handle colour rather than simply deciding for them.
Once the new handle was fitted, I also checked the rest of the window operation.
The window itself needed realignment and required quite a lot of force to close. I explained this to the estate agent and recommended having the alignment corrected, but they decided not to proceed with that additional work.
Because the excessive closing force was likely to place unnecessary strain on the new handle, I also made it clear that I could not reasonably warranty the handle against damage caused by the unresolved alignment problem.
The tenant had a working replacement handle again, with the remaining alignment issue clearly explained to the estate agent.
