A customer in Maple Cross wanted a cat flap installed in one of the wooden front doors at the property.
Because the door had detailed timber panelling, the position mattered. On wooden doors I prefer to keep this type of opening low and towards a corner where possible, rather than cutting through areas that contribute more to the strength around the hinges.
Once the customer approved the position, I marked out the opening and cut it carefully with a multi-tool. For this kind of awkward panelled door, the multi-tool gives me better control than trying to manoeuvre a jigsaw around the details.
The cat flap was then fixed securely with screws and sealed around the opening with silicone to keep the installation weather-resistant.
The finished opening sat neatly within the panel and the door remained solid and usable.
