A customer in Marlow asked me to look at a sliding door that would no longer lock.
Once I removed the multipoint mechanism from the door, the fault was obvious. Wear and age had caused the internal toothed wheel inside the gearbox to fail, which meant the locking system could no longer be operated.
The failed mechanism was not something I could sensibly repair on the spot, so I fitted an overnight lock to keep the door secure while the replacement was being sourced.
I ordered the correct mechanism and returned the following day to fit it.
After installation and testing, the sliding-door locking system was operating properly again.
