A customer in Stanwell got in touch about a patio door after part of the lock had broken away. It does happen, although I do not see this particular type of break very often.
Once I arrived, I could see exactly what the customer meant. Usually when this part of the lock breaks, the whole section comes away rather than only the front portion, so this one was a little unusual.
The lock itself could still be operated in that condition, but the door was not opening because the multipoint mechanism was not releasing. What initially sounded like a straightforward lock replacement had therefore turned into a more involved job involving the mechanism inside the door as well.
