A customer in Sunbury-on-Thames wanted locks installed on two bedroom doors for extra privacy.
The existing doors used long-plate handles in a particular design and she wanted the new locking furniture to match the rest of the house as closely as possible. I could not guarantee that I would be able to source the same style, but fortunately she found matching handles at a local merchant.
I supplied the locks and carried out the installations.
These were fire-rated doors and required 3-inch-backset locks, so the job was not as straightforward as fitting a small standard bathroom latch. The deeper lock bodies needed careful setting out and cutting so everything sat properly within the doors.
It took some time to get both installations right, but once completed the new bedroom locks worked properly and the handles matched the existing style throughout the house.
