A returning customer in Twickenham asked me to look at the original problem he had called about: the master bi-fold doors were becoming difficult to close properly.
A quick inspection showed that the bottom support hinge had failed.
The hinge had lost its washer and the aluminium components had started rubbing directly against each other. Over time that friction had worn the hinge enough that it could no longer fold completely flush.
That small amount of extra thickness was enough to push the master door out of position, making it rub against the keep and become difficult to open and close.
These are specialist hinges and relatively expensive, so they are not something I keep in normal van stock. I ordered the correct replacement and returned a couple of days later.
After fitting the new hinge, I spent around an hour adjusting the complete bi-fold system so the door leaves lined up and travelled properly.
Once finished, the doors were opening and closing normally again without the master leaf rubbing against the keep.
