A returning customer in Weybridge called because he had a couple of windows that were not functioning properly.
One was draughty and was not shutting correctly. The other was only latching on one side instead of both.
The draughty window needed both the hinges and the gearbox replacing. As soon as I took the handle off, pieces of the gearbox started falling out. Water ingress and a lack of lubrication had taken their toll, and only the screws from the handle were really holding the gearbox together.
The second window had the same sort of problem. One part of the gearbox had sheared off, so that side was no longer being engaged when the window was locked.
I had the required hinges and gearboxes in stock, so they were all replaced during the visit and both windows were left shutting and locking properly again.
