A shop owner in Hounslow got in touch because the glass entrance door was rubbing badly at the bottom and he also wanted the lock changed after the keys were lost.
Commercial glass doors need careful handling. A poor adjustment or an impact in the wrong place can turn a routine repair into a very expensive piece of broken glass, so I worked through the alignment first.
Once the door was moving properly again, I moved on to the lock.
As soon as the cylinder came out, it was obvious that the locking mechanism had not seen much maintenance for quite some time.
I removed the lock components, cleaned and lubricated the mechanism and fitted the replacement cylinder.
After reassembly, I tested both the door movement and the locking operation.
The shop entrance was no longer rubbing at the bottom and the customer had a properly working lock with a fresh set of keys.
