This job took me into central London, in Mayfair.
The customer wanted to improve the security of the premises by replacing the existing locks with British Standard alternatives.
I first visited to take measurements and identify replacements that would fit without requiring unnecessary alterations to the door.
Once I had sourced suitable locks, I returned for the installation.
The locks themselves were replaced, but I deliberately retained the original escutcheons.
They were weathered and had become part of the character of the door. Replacing them with shiny new brass escutcheons would, in my view, have looked completely out of place.
The customer therefore got the British Standard lock upgrade without losing the existing appearance of the door.
