A returning customer in Ashford wanted to improve the security of a wooden front door and decided to have an additional British Standard deadlock installed.
It was a particularly nice timber door, so this was not a job to rush. I marked out the lock position carefully, cut the door and frame for the lock body and keep, and fitted everything neatly without damaging the surrounding finish.
From start to finish, the installation took around an hour and a half. There were plenty of tools spread around by the end of it, but that extra time and attention is worthwhile on a good-quality wooden door where the finish matters just as much as the lock working correctly.
Once fitted, I tested the deadlock and door operation and the customer had the additional front-door security he wanted.
