A customer in Ashford called after breaking the key in a patio-door lock. He wanted help opening the door and replacing the lock.
What sounded straightforward over the phone turned into a much more involved opening. The multipoint mechanism had seized with the cylinder cam trapped inside it, which left the whole patio door blocked shut.
The cylinder was not a basic lock either. It was a British Standard 3-star high-security cylinder, so simply attacking the lock was not the sensible route.
With patience and careful drilling hidden underneath the handle plate, I removed the failed components and got the door open without leaving visible damage once the furniture was refitted.
I had the necessary replacement parts in van stock, so the failed components were replaced during the same visit and the patio door was returned to working order.
