A customer in Ashford asked me to look at a problem with the front-door lock and see whether it could be improved.
The door mechanism had apparently never been lubricated, so I gave it a thorough treatment first. That helped, but I also found several screws starting to work loose on the older Monarch system, which was not something I wanted to ignore.
The existing cylinders were rusty and offered only standard security. After I explained the difference between those and the higher-security alternatives I carried, the customer decided to replace the locks.
I had suitable high-security cylinders in van stock, so the replacement could be completed during the same visit.
Once everything was fitted, I tested the locks and the rest of the door mechanism to make sure the new hardware was operating smoothly.
The customer ended up with the original door mechanism serviced and the worn standard-security cylinders replaced with higher-security locks.
