A customer in Ashford got in touch because the front-door lock had become increasingly difficult to use and asked me to replace it.
The existing lock was the original cylinder fitted with the door, and one of the internal pins had worn enough that turning the key had become a struggle.
I happened to have a suitable replacement in the van, although it was slightly longer than the old one and needed some adjustment before it could be fitted correctly.
I took the replacement lock apart, which also gave me the opportunity to clean and lubricate it properly before installation.
Once the necessary adjustments were made, I fitted the new cylinder and tested the key and locking operation. The front-door lock was working smoothly again without the resistance that had developed in the worn original.
