An estate agent I work with asked me to look at a front-door lock in Laleham because the tenant was finding it increasingly difficult to insert the key and lock the door.
After arranging a suitable time with the tenant, I arrived and found a rather unusual existing installation. I had no idea who had fitted it that way or why, and there was little value in speculating, so I concentrated on solving the problem in front of me.
The existing lock was no longer worth trying to nurse along. I explained the condition to the agent and got approval to replace it.
I had a suitable British Standard replacement in van stock, removed the old unit and installed the new lock during the visit.
Once fitted, I tested the key and locking operation and the front door was working properly again.
