A customer in Shepperton had the unfortunate timing of developing problems with both the front-door and garden-door multipoint locking systems.
Both mechanisms had become unreliable enough that replacement was needed.
One of the original systems had become obsolete, while the other still had a genuine replacement available. In both cases, the failures appeared consistent with long-term wear or with the mechanisms having been forced when the doors were difficult to lock.
That is exactly why I keep telling customers that a multipoint door should operate smoothly and with very little force. If the handles need to be pulled or pushed hard to engage the locking points, the door usually needs adjustment before that extra strain damages the gearbox or other components.
I replaced the failed mechanisms and checked the door operation so the new parts were not being forced against poor alignment.
Both doors were locking and unlocking properly again rather than being pushed past the point where another failure could occur.
