A youth club in Staines got in touch because its existing digital code lock had failed. A member of staff had actually been locked inside the supply room when the mechanism stopped working.
Fortunately, other colleagues were nearby and managed to get her out before I attended, but it had understandably given her a fright.
The failed lock needed replacing rather than trying to keep an unreliable mechanism in service.
I had a suitable digital code lock in van stock, removed the old unit and installed the replacement during the visit.
The previous installation had left the door in fairly rough condition, so the new lock had to sit slightly off the ideal line in order to cover the existing damage while still being fixed securely.
Once fitted, I tested the code, latch and handle operation several times to make sure the new lock was working consistently and the supply-room door could be used normally again.
