A customer in Sunbury-on-Thames got in touch because the uPVC door would no longer lock. The handle would lift, but nothing happened inside the multipoint mechanism.
From the description over the phone, I had a good idea what the likely fault was and gave the customer a quote on that basis. They were happy to go ahead.
Once on site, testing confirmed that something inside the gearbox had failed. The handle was moving, but the gearbox was no longer transferring that movement through the multipoint locking system.
I had the correct replacement in stock, fitted the new gearbox and then made a few adjustments to make sure the door and locking points were operating cleanly.
The handle and multipoint mechanism were then working normally again and the door could be secured properly.
