A customer in SW London wanted the door lock changed after misplacing one of the keys and deciding not to take any chances with security.
He had sent photographs beforehand, but it was a multipoint locking system I had not worked on before and the cylinder arrangement was unusual enough that none of the many locks I carried in the van matched what was required.
Once I had inspected it properly, I identified the correct specification: a fire-rated cog euro cylinder.
I ordered the correct lock for the following day and returned to fit it.
The door itself had an interesting multipoint system running through the inside of the door rather than using only a conventional surface faceplate, with multiple locking bolts and several security features built into the setup.
After fitting the new cylinder, I tested the key and complete multipoint operation to make sure everything was working correctly again.
The misplaced key was no longer a security concern and the existing multipoint door system remained in service with the correctly specified replacement cylinder.
