A customer in Thames Ditton wanted an additional lock fitted to an outward-opening door, so I installed a deadlocking nightlatch.
The customer wanted to keep the existing lock setup underneath. To make the door easier to operate, I removed the latch from the existing sash lock but left the lock body in place. I also left the removed latch with the customer in case they ever decided to put it back.
The frame was sturdy and wide enough to support the new nightlatch keep, so I used an oscillating saw to cut a neat recess for it.
Once everything was fitted and adjusted, the door had the additional deadlocking nightlatch while the rest of the existing setup remained in place.
