A returning customer in Ashford wanted some extra security for a roller-shutter-style garage door. The shutter already had the manufacturer’s handle lock, but the customer wanted an additional lock that could be secured from the inside.
Because I do not work on shutters every day, this was not something I had sitting in van stock. I spent some time looking at suitable options and we settled on an ABUS lock that was compact enough for the door but still substantial enough for the job.
The lock had to be ordered, so I returned at a time agreed with the customer once it arrived. I installed the additional lock on the inside of the shutter and paired it with a Yale Diskus padlock.
The original shutter lock remained in place, but the customer now had the extra layer of internal security he had been looking for without needing to replace the existing door hardware.
