A customer in Feltham called because the front door had been becoming increasingly difficult to operate and had now reached the point where it could no longer be locked.
I removed the multipoint mechanism from the door and the damage was visible immediately.
A component in the top-right section of the mechanism was bent and broken. That had allowed other parts to loosen over time until the entire locking system eventually became inoperable.
There was no sensible way to trust the old mechanism after that amount of internal damage.
I had the correct replacement in van stock, fitted the new system and then made a few slight adjustments to the door hinges so the locking points were not being put under unnecessary strain.
After testing, the front door was opening, closing and locking normally again.
