A local customer in Ashford contacted me for help changing the front-door lock.
Before replacing anything, I first needed to gain access through the existing lock.
I tried non-destructive opening methods before considering drilling and, after a bit of persistence, managed to get the door open without having to drill the lock.
The existing setup was key-operated from both sides.
The customer chose to replace it with a higher-security arrangement: a 3-star British Standard cylinder on the outside and a thumb-turn on the inside.
I fitted the new lock, checked the internal and external operation and made sure the door was locking correctly again.
The customer ended up with the requested lock change and improved security without the original lock needing to be drilled for access.
