An estate agent got in touch about a communal door in Ashford that had become difficult to open and close.
Once on site, it was clear that both the lock cylinder and the lock case were in poor condition. I quoted for replacing the complete setup and the estate agent decided to go ahead.
The lock case itself was unusually substantial, so seeing one fail in this condition was a first for me. The cylinder also needed replacing because the internal turn knob was simply no longer there.
I removed the worn components and fitted the replacement lock and case, restoring proper operation to the communal door.
What initially sounded like an adjustment issue therefore turned out to need a complete lock replacement rather than trying to keep worn or incomplete parts in service.
